Lawncare

Don't quit your day jobs folks!! In fact, do all you can to finish school and then get a day job! Today was day one of my temporary summer law mowing job. I work for my uncle's lawn care business and today I spent 6 hours mowing....back and forth, back and forth.... sweaty pants, calloused hands, green shoes...

I'm not complaining, really I'm not. I feel very fortunate to have a job the day after my internship is over. I'm just saying...I'm glad this is temporary. There are some perks to this that I am looking forward to. Nice calfs, great farmers tan, and some money in my pocket.  It also gave me some good thinking time. Between random fast food jingles like "Arby's! It's good mood food" and wondering if I left the oven on at home I think I managed to write a few poems in my head while I was mowing. (I won't forget to charge my i-pod again!)

Today I came to one conclusion. It doesn't matter where you work or how often you work just so long as you spend the same amount of time that you spent working doing something for yourself! Whether it be time with family, a hobby, or just reading a good book, do something that you enjoy. It'll ensure a well balanced life and who wouldn't want that?! (can you see a little bit of the recreation therapist coming out in me?)

Adventure is out there!

I have a lot more free time on my hands. I am replacing homework assignments with blog posts. To everything there is a season and I think it's the season of blogging for me. Why not?

Have you ever listened to a song that just strikes a cord with your heart and you could listen to it on repeat all day? Well my current obession is with I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz.  Like seriously, in the past 24 hours I think I have listened to it well over 50 times. Just ask Winston and Ellie, I think they have it memorized by now.  I'm not sure if it is the subtle guitar, the choir in the background or just the over all message but I think its safe to say that I love it.

My internship has ended, and with it so has my college career  at BYU-Idaho. I love that place! What's the next step you might ask? Well it is time to find myself a paying job and become a "working girl" as my mom so kindly called it when I got my first job as a 16 year old. I'm looking at a couple different places, one is a nursing home in south Ogden and the other is my dream job for this summer. Note how I said this summer. My dream job would be to get hired at a VA but until that day I just want to get experience where I can and have fun while doing it. So my dream summer 2012 job would be a summer camp counselor in Park City for kids who have physical and mental disabilities. They do a lot with adaptive equipment and I have found that I love adaptive equipment! I take my big certification test in May and so I am currently studying for that.

My time so far in Salt Lake has been a great learning expereicnce. You find out who your friends are and you find out what you are capable of. I've had to learn what I've got and what I'm not and who I am.  I'm looking forward to summer. With summer comes softball, sun, baseball games, new friends and new adventures. Oh ya, and a great tan and natural highlights. Can't beat that!
